Top 3 FREE domain registrars

After using FREE domains more than 6 months, I build a list of top free domain registrars. Here are the top 3 free domain registrars I chose.

Note that true FREE domains are not free. dot.tk offers true fully qualified domains, but they apply some conditions for use. Other registrars in the list simply offer subdomains. But all of them appear like true FREE domains.

DOT TK

Dot.tk is the only registrar who give true top level domains(like example.tk)! If you are looking for a way to brand your work without chunky brands, dot.tk is a thing that you should try.

They have both URL forwarding and DNS setting up for your domain. I personally think that you must use the DNS setup, because you can get rid of advertisements and Search-Engine-Enemy stuff. Their URL forwarding option is just showing your original web site in an iframe with their favicon and advertisememts.
Their DNS hosting is fairly good for those who need a small setup(and for those who hate DNS). You only can add CNAME, Adress and MX records. If this is what you like(no fun), you can stick with it. Otherwise you can change nameservers to another DNS host or even web hosting server.

Although I added dot.tk in the list, thousands of companies dislike it. Google Apps is the biggest giant who banned(and will) all the .tk domains from their system. The other problem is, most people think that .tk sites are scams. If you use .tk, nn-doubt that you'll face to such situations. However, I used a .tk domain more than 6 months, with even DNS hosting, Web hosting as well as e-mail hosting.
Another good point is domain availibility. Most good domains are still available to claim for free. Starting from 4 characters, you can get almost the entire wishlist! You can get unlimited number of domains per account. But dot.tk will rob your domain if the didn't domain recieve more than 25 hits in 90 days.
If you lost your domain due to abuse or inactivity, you've to pay $7 per year and buy the domain. When comparing with .com and .net domains, they are expensive by just two dollars. So it's better to go for a .com if you can. However, .tk is the best starting point for most webmasters.

CO.CC

co.cc is a solid registrar who has a name of offering free subdomain for years without advertisements. You can get something like example.co.cc, which gives the same fun as a top level domains. The big difference with dot.tk and co.cc is, co.cc is almost scam-less. I see that they are monitoring the activity of registered subdomains. Google Apps and other big giants still accept co.cc subdomains. So you can play with your own .co.cc subdomain keeping fun in mind.
Another good point is, it's popularity. Google has more than 335,000,000 indexed pages from .co.cc subdomains while 151,000,000 indexed pages from .tk-s (co.cc results, .tk results).
Co.cc supports both URL forwarding(without ads) and DNS stuff. Their DNS hosting is great. Supports A,CNAME, TXT and MX records.

The number of subdomains you can get from co.cc is limited. Also, most of the subdomains with dictionary words are already registered. But a plenty of good subdomains still available.

CO.TV

co.tv is my love. It's exactly same as co.cc in features, but the co.tv subdomains look more perfect than .co.cc-s. It's true that co.tv is not very popular. Their features are not in the top-notch, but wishlist-availibility is great. They too monitor scammers and abusers. You can get only 3 domains per account. Their support is good, and web site is elegant.

Co.tv supports DNS setting up and URL forwarding. You can claim your wishlist because most domains still available.

Co.tv web site supports multiple languages, and they offer a great support. No traffic requirements, and the best thing - ad FREE!

Note that all of these registrars do their business. Some people reported that their domains were claimed back by dot.tk after the domains started to get more than 500 hits per day. But it didn't happened to me(more than 2000 hits per day).

Co.cc domains seems to be limited to 2 years of registration period.
